After several days of both heartbreaking and heroic stories, I have decided I must have hope and courage. Both are gifts, but also, they are choices. I choose to believe that goodness exists, that most people want mass shootings to end. I choose to look to the future with hope rather than darkness and despair.
What can be done? The two issues that surface for me are developing gun controls that make sense and aiding mental health resources. I don’t have the specific steps, but I believe those two topics should be the focus for our actions. One other helpful immediate act that I have heard suggested: give a blood donation. Continue to pray.
